The benefits of indoor plants. Natural clean air factories

Did you know that your home collects toxic gases produced by various household chemicals, carpet dust, paint, etc.?

All of the above contribute to a condition known as Sick Building Syndrome, where people experience headaches, coughs and even bouts of nausea or fever.

Plants are an indispensable addition to our homes and offices.

They are necessary to obtain oxygen and purify the air from harmful substances. Most houses and apartments are poorly ventilated, and plants serve as a natural filter. As more and more trees are cut down, your indoor plants go some way to compensating for the oxygen we breathe every day.

A study conducted by Dr. Wolverton in Nasa showed that many plants have the ability to remove harmful gases in the air, such as benzene, formaldehyde, trichlorethylene, carbon monoxide. By having just one or a few plants, you can cleanse the air of harmful gases.

According to research, the following plants are good for removing benzene: chrysanthemum, ivy, gerberas, dracaena, spathiphyllum.

The best plants for removing formaldehyde are bamboo, ficus, philodendron, and climbing plants.

The study was conducted by placing each plant species in a sealed plexiglass container with numerous toxic gases inside. After a few days, the gas concentrations were measured again, assuming that some plants would perform better at eliminating toxins in the air than others.

Research has shown that per 500 square meters of space, only approximately 10-15 plants are needed to completely filter the air. Plants are very useful.

When placing plants, you need to take into account their light-loving nature (plants that require more light should be located near windows or in rooms with artificial lighting). It is not necessary to buy an adult plant; you can buy a young one. It is cheaper as they tend to grow very quickly under the right light.

Plants will add attractiveness to the atmosphere of any interior. Like painting or sculpture, plants can display interesting geometries and patterns on their leaves.

Some people think that plants are difficult to grow, but in most cases it is incredibly easy to create your own small garden indoors. All you need to do is keep the soil moist and provide the plant with light.

Plants do not require as much attention as animals; they will live indefinitely. Nobody needs houseplants to survive, but they clearly have a number of benefits.
