Caring for indoor plants while on vacation
During a vacation or a long business trip, we leave our cozy apartments, and along with them, our favorite indoor plants. The time of your absence should seem short and unnoticeable to them and should not affect their health in any way.
To ensure that your flowers do not experience stress and remain unharmed, we advise you to read this article.
So, if you decide to go on a weekend trip, do not forget that the plants will need care for the entire time you are away. For animals, for example, there are neighbors, close relatives, and, in extreme cases, special hotels for animals, but who will take care of your favorite plants?
Probably only you have the knowledge about proper care. It’s good, of course, if initially, when purchasing, you considered the possibility of such a situation and purchased such a simple flowerpot as nolina.
You need to water the plant once a month, or maybe a little less often, a bright window, a little shade and no problems, or something from palm trees, which in turn are similarly easy to care for.
But if you have acquired a water lover, do not leave him to the mercy of fate.
There are several ways to keep a flowerpot in its usual state.
The simplest thing you can do is water the plants deeply. Place them in a cooler room, preferably in a north-facing, well-lit window.
If you have more than three plants, you can water them well, group them and place them in a container covered with 2-3 cm of drainage. A little water is poured onto the drainage. This will increase the air humidity. Pay attention to the lighting in the place where the container with plants will be placed; direct sun can burn the foliage.
If the plants do not fit on the windowsill, they can be grouped and placed during their absence in a bathtub, into which 1.5-2 cm of water must first be poured.
An interesting way, but not entirely simple, is to place plants around a deep bowl of water and hold wicks to each plant. They can be made from thick cotton thread, securing both ends, one in the hole of the pot, the other lowered into a container of water.
Cover with a plastic bag, thus creating a greenhouse effect.
Progress does not stand still, and for convenience and comfort, we have created special containers for wick watering. The best part is that they are decoratively attractive.
To summarize, let’s say that in our time, plants can still be left alone at home and rest in peace.
