Provence style interior

Provence is a light, southern style of the French province. It is often called "French country". The style received its name in honor of the region of the same name, located in the south of France, which is known for its stunningly beautiful nature. Picturesque seascapes, narrow streets whitened by the bright sun, spicy cuisine and the intoxicating aroma of flowers...

It may seem that the rustic style will not fit into the hectic life of the metropolis, but it is the simplicity and charm of this style that has made it so popular recently. The measured, unhurried life of the province attracted the attention of the French bourgeoisie, and wealthy people began to settle in remote areas in an attempt to escape the bustle of the city. They furnished their homes simply, but at the same time elegantly.

The atmosphere of French country even today captivates many with its sweet simplicity, conducive to relaxation and respite from daily hassles. This seemingly rustic style has long ceased to be the prerogative of only country houses and has become an integral part of city dwellings. After all, why is the House so valuable? Home is a place where you can relax, relieve stress, where it is warm, beautiful and cozy.

Creating a French provincial interior is not so difficult if you take into account some of its features.

Light, pastel colors in natural shades

Provence carries the atmosphere of a hot sea coast, so the color scheme consists of light shades, as if bleached by the sun. Mostly it is white, light green, pale blue, lavender, muted yellow, sand, cream. This color palette is observed in the decoration of the walls, and in the decorative elements and furniture. Moreover, the furniture, as a rule, is a tone darker than the main color of the interior.

Plaster and “aged” furniture

Wall finishing is done using plaster. It is applied with irregularities and roughness, creating the illusion of an untreated surface. Wallpaper is not typical for the Provence style, but if desired, you can use wallpaper with imitation plaster or with a delicate floral pattern. Sometimes the walls are sheathed with boards painted white or preserving the natural texture of the wood.

A phytowall can become a bright highlight of your interior - it will fit perfectly into the overall natural style, create comfort and special charm. The size of the phytowall depends on the total area of the room. You can make a completely living wall or a phytomodule as a decorative element.

In the kitchen, the walls are finished with natural stone or brick. Furniture is chosen from natural wood in light shades - walnut, chestnut, ash, oak. You can purchase artificially aged furniture.

Attention to details

The more cute trinkets there are in the room, the better, since minimalism is completely uncharacteristic of Provence. Place vases, candlesticks, photo frames, and figurines around the apartment. They can be made of glass, ceramics or aged wood. Do not use plastic or other modern materials.

On the shelves in the kitchen you can comfortably place fancy bottles of oils, jars of spices and herbal tea, cookbooks, baskets with sprigs of lavender and other herbs.

Plants

It is impossible to imagine rustic chic without flowerpots in the house. You can decorate your home with cut or dried flowers in vases; sprigs of lavender with their soft purple flowers look especially touching.

Fresh flowers in flowerpots will emphasize the naturalness of the interior and its closeness to nature. Flowering plants look very harmonious. Choose plants taking into account the overall color scheme of the room, but do not forget about the needs of the plants themselves. For example, a chic begonia or a delicate azalea do not like direct sunlight, so it is better to place them on the north side of the house. In a bright, sunny kitchen you can decorate the window sills with indoor jasmine.

If the windows are at least half covered with light curtains, feel free to place violets on the windowsill - they are charming, giving coziness and a feeling of home comfort.

And of course, roses. Indoor roses will delight you indoors in winter, and in summer they can be planted on a balcony or garden plot. Roses come in a wide variety of colors - white, bright red, pink, peach, yellow - choose the color that is closest to the overall color scheme of the room where you are going to place them.

You should not place many different flowering plants in one room. It is better to put a separate type of flowerpots in each room and kitchen.

It is important to choose the right flowerpots for your plants. According to the general concept, the material for flowerpots should be natural. A light ceramic flowerpot will not distract attention from the bright flowering plant. Bright flowerpots in a light interior will become an independent element of decor and will create an accent on the plant if you want to emphasize it.

Provence is a simple, romantic and close to nature style. Creating a French country interior is not so difficult if you follow the basic rules, and you will end up with an extraordinary, cozy and comfortable home that will delight you and your guests.
